Laser Hair Removal Treatments
At our practice, laser hair removal is performed with the Lumenis LightSheer® DUET™. Using this advanced laser system, hair removal is fast, reliable, and comfortable. These benefits are possible because of LightSheer's advanced technology.
No anesthesia is required prior to laser hair removal with LightSheer (although we do make it available). Treatments are painless because the new, vacuum-assisted tip brings the hair follicle closer to the laser so that a lower energy level is needed. The vacuum also alters skin sensation, essentially "fooling" our senses, furthering patient comfort.
Treatment with LightSheer is faster because the new treatment tip is 10 times larger than the old tip. This means that body areas can be treated 75% more quickly. In fact, treatments take such a short time that most patients choose to treat multiple areas on each visit.
During the procedure, the laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light, which is absorbed by the pigment in hair follicles. After Treatment
Because hair growth is cyclical and laser hair removal is most effective during the active growth phase, 2 to 5 treatments are generally required to achieve permanent hair reduction. Immediately after treatment, the treated area may temporarily appear pink or red and, possibly, slightly swollen. However, most of our Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach laser hair removal patients are able to return to their usual routine right away.
